Contribute
If you want to contribute to the collection of music at this site, it’s easy and the artists has 100% control over their information. Filophoni only features releases containing 4 tracks or more, so use Bandbasen.dk or Myspace.com for your 3 track demo.
If you want to release your work at Filophoni, follow the 3 steps.
1. License
First of all, the work have to be licensed under creative commons. Read here about choosing the right license for your work.
2. Email
Then send us an email (filophoni [a] gmail [dot] com), containing information (and maybe also PayPal donate link). Also note if you want us to store the data of your work.
3. Uploading your album
The easiest way is to upload your album at Internet Archive, and Filophoni can link to these files. This way you have 100% control over your release for further use, since Filophoni eventually could close down, and your links would stop working.
If Internet Archive doesn’t fit your release, you can either host it yourself, or Filophoni can store your work on our server.
Release specifics about files and data
Filophoni has some simple rules about the structure of releases.
All files have to be in a folder which tells the name of the artist, the release and year. This folder is then packed in ‘.rar’, and can be distributed through our site.
The release folder must include:
1. High-quality Mp3 files (min. bitrate: 192kbps) with correct meta-data containing at least: Artist name, Album title, Year and Track number.
In the comment field feel free to add name of artists, netlabels, websites and type of license.
2. A info text about the release in PDF format containing: Release date, Names of people involved, Studio name, Links to websites (band, netlabel and community sites). This file presents the information, that usually was written in the CD cover, so be creative!
3. Picture file of Cover – JPEG-file. The bigger the better.
4. Album Artwork (Note: its easy to add artwork to a collection of songs with MediaMonkey)
